The APEC Beijing Energy Conference Week kicked off on September 7, with two powerthemed sideevents convened in Beijing. Under the guidance of the National Energy Administration,the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) and China Southern Power Grid (CSG)respectively released domesticallydeveloped research outcomes,sharing Chinaproposed solutions and practical experience in powersector development with APEC member economies.
At the Power System Resilience Seminar hosted by SGCC, the Recommended Solutions for Enhancing Power System Resilience was unveiled. It establishes a threedimensional collaborative resilienceenhancement framework covering all links of generation, grid, load and energy storage. The solutions consolidate the physical foundation of equipment and facilities, optimize marketoriented policy and institutional environments, and improve security governance and emergency coordination safeguards, offering references for economies to boost power grids’ riskresistance and rapid selfhealing capabilities. Participants held indepth discussions on topics including disaster prevention and mitigation against extreme weather and digitalintelligent empowerment for power grids.
On the same day, at the Seminar on Newtype Power Systems Adapted to Highproportion New Energy hosted by CSG, the Recommended Solutions for Developing New-Type Power Systems Adapted to High Penetration of Variable Renewable Energy was released. Rooted in the realities of energy development across the AsiaPacific region, the solutions address challenges brought by highproportion newenergy integration, delivering combinable, scalable and referable approaches for constructing newtype power systems, and responding to practical securityandstability operation challenges posed by largescale integration of highproportion new energy. Guest participants exchanged views on artificialintelligenceenabled powergrid transition and regional energy transition practices.
The two sideevents brought together government delegates, international organizations, enterprises and experts from various economies. Aligned with APEC’s principles of voluntary and nonbinding cooperation, the two sets of outcomes deepen pragmatic AsiaPacific energypower exchanges.
